White Dental Fillings Littleton Colorado

No Mercury! No Metals! No Kidding!
For years, the silver-mercury amalgam was the standard filling material used in dental practices, and many practices still use it. While they are a reasonable restoration, amalgams have certain shortcomings. Metal does not bond well to teeth, so decay can and does eventually leak into the tooth. But the biggest reason many of our patients are choosing the white bonded fillings has to do with the way they look. Many people just don’t want an ugly black plug in their teeth. We offer modern, state-of-the-art restorations that are a natural-looking white, contain no metals, and can actually strengthen your teeth. They also bond very tightly with the healthy part of the tooth so there is much less chance of decay in the future.

Brushing Two Times A Day Is A Way To Healthy Heart

This week the findings of a new study by the specialists from University College London were revealed. British experts are convinced that brushing our teeth two times a day is a perfect way not only to keep our teeth and guns healthy, or prevent bad breath, but it also a great strategy to avoid such problems as heart disease and keep away other serious cardio-vascular ailments.

According to the specialists, dental bacteria can affect our cardio-vascular health, and this study was aimed on researching the effects of our brushing habits on our heart. The experiments and surveys, led by Prof. Richard Watt from University College London, involved 11,000 male and female participants with different dental problems and heart health. The scientists analyzed medical histories of the patients, took their blood samples, interviewed them to learn more about their lifestyle, habits and family.

According to the records, 6 out of 10 participants visit a dentist once per 6 months, and 7 out of 10 participants have a habit of brushing their teeth two times a day. After analyzing the information and adjusting the data received, the specialists found out that those who brush their teeth two times a day on a regular basis have 70% lower chances to develop a heart disease. Therefore, brushing you teeth in the morning and in the evening is a way to healthy heart and living a long life.

It was a known fact that there are links between dental and cardio-vascular health, but this study became the first scientific research for the last 20 years, which was specifically carried out to understand the connections between these two factors. The findings and conclusions of the British specialists were recently published in the British Medical Journal.

Dental Checkups Can Help Reveal Other Health Problems

The issues of dental care and personal hygiene are among the most topical social concerns of modern health care enthusiasts. According to the statistics, due to high prices for dental services and the requirements of our business life, very often we neglect visiting a dental specialist every 6 months for a regular checkup. This tendency is increasing, making public dental health get worse and worse.

In particular, specialists found out that lots of American people have such serious dental problem as gum disease, but they are not aware of the fact as they do not visit their dentists regularly. The same can be said about other dental diseases, which are closely linked to many serious health conditions and ailments, including heart disease, arthritis, hypertension, diabetes and many more. If we do not do regular dental checkups, we have no opportunity to get important information and prevent the development of other diseases which are very serious and sometimes even lethal.

This issue became a subject of interest of a group of dental specialists at one of the scientific centers in Virginia. As a result, one of the leaders of the research, Charles Martin, wrote a book which tells the wide audience how much oral hygiene is important for our overall health and what role it plays for maintaining excellent health or for effective weight management.

Martin underlines that in case if anything is not right in the body, there are always signs in our oral area. Therefore, dental checkup is one of the most effective ways to reveal other health problems, starting from common sore throat and ending up with increased risks for heart disease. He says that if the situation with children is more or less acceptable as children have regular checkups in their schools, adults must pay serious attention on the problem. That is why the dental specialist encourages citizens to buy affordable discounted dental plans and never miss regular checkups at their dentists.

Sedation Dentistry Littleton Colorado

Sedation Dentistry, One More Solution For Dental Phobias

To continue discussing the previously mentioned issue related to increasing number of people who suffer from severe dental phobias, we’d like to talk about another very effective technique to calm down stresses and fears related to visiting a dentist. Many modern dental clinics and dental offices are offering their clients an interesting approach to treating those patients who fear of dentists: sedation dentistry.

As it becomes apparent from its name, sedation dentistry involves giving a certain sedative medication to a patient before starting actual dental treatment. Usually, a sedative is administered orally (as a pill) or intravenously. Specialists define two types of sedation dentistry techniques: conscious SD (when the patient remains awake and aware about what’s going on during the procedure) and unconscious (or sleep) SP (when the patient remains asleep during the procedure).

Actually, there are three levels or types of sedation dentistry. The first one embraces applying Nitrous Oxide, known also as ‘laughing gas’ which is believed to help patient feel more relax and establish a good connection and trust between the patient and the dental specialist. Oral conscious sedation is the second level. It involves giving the patient a special pill, which slows down metabolism of the patient and his responses slow down substantially. Oral conscious sedation
pill makes patients feel a little drowsy and considerably less sensitive to pain and discomfort linked to dental procedures.

Finally, the third type of sedation dentistry approach is called Intravenously Administered (IV) sedation. It mean using a small line in order to administer a medication and keep the patients, who have severe fears and cases of dental phobias, asleep during the whole period of the procedure. It is reported that all these three approaches work fine for the majority of the patients and can be used regardless of the type of dental procedure: a missing tooth replacement, tooth restoration, dental filling placing and so on. Ask for more information in your local dental clinics and dental offices.

Implant Dentistry Littleton Colorado

Missing Teeth? Why Not 'Grow' New Ones!

Dental implants are the ideal way to replace a lost tooth, especially in the front of the mouth where they are most visible. Unlike bridges or removable dentures, which sit on top of the gums, dental implants are placed under the gums. The "tooth" placed on an implant appears life-like, because it comes through the gums just like the original did – it's like growing a new tooth! Implants can be used to replace any number of lost teeth. Even people with no teeth can benefit from implants, because they can replace their dentures with teeth that are solid enough to eat any food, don't move around when they talk, and don't need to be taken out at night. They can also be used to "lock-in" dentures for a secure fit.

Dental implants (usually titanium) are surgically placed into the upper and lower jaw bone. Dr. Wostrel follows a 'team approach' to custom-create natural looking implants, which often enhance or restore a patient's smile.

Dr. Wostrel and his team were professional, personable, and very caring. Thank you all so very much for helping me get the proper care for my teeth. They look fabulous!

I finally worked up the courage to call for an appointment. The entire staff was warm and very supportive - from the time I made the first phone call through the appointments. Dr. Wostrel is wonderful, very caring and nonjudgmental. The most cowardly of patients, like me, are put completely at ease. Thank you for everything. You are terrific!

Dental Care in a Relaxing Environment

Even though we take great pride in being able to deliver painless injections, some people are naturally anxious at even the thought of a needle. If you or a loved one breaks into a cold sweat at the mention of the word “dentist,” we have a simple solution. One hour before your visit, you take a pill that we dispense to you. You will reach a level of sedation that allows you to respond to questions but mostly sleep through your entire visit. This is ideal for fearful people or those who have a busy schedule and want to get all their treatment done in one visit. With some cases, we offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

We look forward to working with you to provide you with quality dental care in a comfortable, relaxed manner. Learn more about sedation dentistry in Littleton CO by visiting our main web site.

A New Kind Of Dentistry
If you “hate the dentist,” you are in good company. Many people quickly admit that going to the dentist is not their favorite thing to do. However, a healthy mouth has a big impact on how we eat, smile, talk, laugh, sing…and are viewed by others. Charles Mayo, MD, co-founder of The Mayo Clinic, said a healthy mouth will add 10 years to the human lifespan. We love our teeth but we don't like the dentist! Because avoiding the dentist is one of the surest ways to lose your teeth, Rocky View Dental Care in Littleton Colorado is determined to change the way you feel about visits to the dentist.

Caring, Personalized Treatment
Our top priority is to treat each patient as an individual, to get to know you personally, and not merely treat you as a chart number or “the next patient.” We promise all our patients the same things: a caring and attentive staff, an enthusiastic manner, and state-of-the-art dental care delivered with exceptional comfort in a friendly atmosphere.

Take Care of Your Teeth to Avoid Cavities

Dental Office Littleton Colorado

Do you know what a cavity is?
It is developed whenever a tooth decays or breaks down. It is a hole that can actually grow bigger and deeper over time! These are also called as dental caries and if you have them, better get them repaired as soon as possible.

To be able to avoid to get some cavities, you must brush your teeth after each time you eat. The most important time to brush is when you are about to go to bed at night. Brush up and down in circular motion. Be gentle to your gums to keep them healthy. Floss at least once a day to be able to remove plaque that’s stuck between your teeth. You must limit your intake of sodas and other sugary drinks and of course, go to your favorite dentist at least twice a year for regular check-ups.

What is gingivitis?

It is an oral disease that can make our gums inflamed. It usually appears to be shiny. The victims of this oral disease often have mouth sores though the gums may not feel the pain unless pressure is exerted. The accumulation of bacterial plaque in between a person’s teeth and gums can form tartar on the teeth that causes gingivitis. An individual who suffers from gingivitis usually experiences bleeding and itching of the gums. Gingivitis can be avoided through regular oral hygiene that includes daily brushing and flossing. Make it to a point to ask your dentist for advice.

Proper Flossing of Teeth

Flossing is such an easy thing to do, but so hard to accomplish. Do you agree with me?

Flossing is one of the most important oral ritual that we must accomplish everyday yet some of us don’t even know how to properly do it.

First, cut a section of the dental floss. Take the floss and wrap one end around your middle finger of each hand. You will then use your index fingers to manipulate the floss. Slide the floss between your teeth all the way down to the gum line . Repeat this step on the next tooth. Pull the floss out and repeat this process between all of your teeth changing to a new clean section of floss as you go on and on. That’s it! We’re done!

Don’t Torture Your Teeth!

Dental Care Tip

Have you heard of the popular belief on brushing? Some old folks claims that using toothbrushes with hard bristles and applying to much pressure while brushing will give you a cleaner and better teeth. That information is oh so wrong! Do you really want o torture your teeth?

Following that infamous belief can cause damage to the teeth enamel. Not only that, you will also give your precious gums a hard time too. You don't want to feel too much pain, right?

Next time, see to it that you use a toothbrush with soft bristles and another reminder don't push it too hard! Don't be a saddist!

Tongue piercings
Yes, they can look cool but they can also fracture your teeth as well as make it much easier to get a nasty infection of the tongue and lips. Dentists have estimated that up to 40% of people who have metal rings or other oral piercings have had big problems from tooth fractures and infection.

It’s not just the sugar – it’s also the acid

Sugar and acids are your teeth’s worst enemies. What are we talking about? Soft drinks, energy drinks, fruit juices, and candy.

Because of the acid content, Mountain Dew seems to be the worst of the worst. Dentists even have a name for the damage it does – they call it “Dew Mouth.”
These soften the tooth enamel, making it highly susceptible to decay. Parents, watch your kid’s consumption of these because young children’s enamel hasn’t developed fully. This makes these drinks even more damaging for kids.

As well as eliminating the above (or at least reducing their consumption), use a sugar-free xylitol chewing gum after meal. Also rinse your mouth with a high quality dental mouthwash.

Tooth enamel is very hard but…
that doesn’t mean you can’t break it.
Try to avoid eating “hard foods” such as popcorn. Don’t crack nut shells with your teeth or chew on ice. Opening packages with your teeth can also damage the enamel.

Dental Care Tip!
Braces – good for straight teeth, but you’d better be a clean freak
It’s harder to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy if you wear braces. This means you must be even more of a fanatic about brushing and flossing or two years later your teeth will be beautifully straight but loaded with cavities.

Plague can easily accumulate around the brackets which can cause “white spots”, damage to the enamel, white and cavities.
